Ok, I admit it. After last week, I was ready to give up on this show. But, I tuned in for one more week because I’ve been watching this show forever and it’s a hard habit to break. I don’t think I could handle Grey’s crapping out on me and I don’t think I’m the only one.
I just want to know if Izzie is loony or sick with some tumor or other neurological disorder? What gives with that? Personally, I think the powers that be didn’t realize how popular Denny would be with viewers. He was hot, cute, sick and we loved him. And we hated that he died. So, they bring him back and get a boost with viewership maybe? Or, is this a way to get Katherine Heigl out of the show so she can make movies full time?
I have a hard time accepting the concept of Izzie touching and talking to Denny, much less believing he is her ghost lover. But, Heigl is such an awesome actress that when I watch her yelling at Denny, I buy it. I wonder how long it will take for her housemates to realize she thinks she’s getting her freak on with a ghost. And how will this affect Alex? And what kind of intervention will that be, exactly? A call for a pscyh consult? Will she be led away in a strait-jacket or given massive doses of chemo? Maybe this is Heigl’s way of auditioning for more than just chick flick movies. The woman, besides being gorgeous, has gads of talent and deserves more than just 27 Dresses. Or, even more strange than a sudden tumor, maybe she really is seeing Denny’s ghost and what they really need is a consult with Allison Dubois. Talk about crossovers. That one would be interesting.
On a positive note – I’m very taken with Christina’s new love interest. I want to see more. Unlike the rest of the doctors, she’s only had one love interest on the show and he’s been long gone for awhile. (In my humble opinion, the show hasn’t quite been the same since Isaiah Washington’s departure, but that’s just me. I always thought him the mcsteamiest of all. I was hoping he would get a slap on the wrist and perhaps public humiliation for his offensive comments towards T.R. Knight. But, not being behind the scenes, perhaps leaving was the only equitable option.)
I also think the whole intern “let’s cut ourselves up” story line is pretty cool. Granted, I don’t think it would happen in real life but I still like it. It makes me wonder if every set of interns has an episode where, because of stupidity, they jeopardize people’s lives (circling back to Denny)?
So, what’s your take on the Izzie angle? Bad idea or another juicy twist?
